The Issue
To His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom
On granting asylum, citizenship, and financial support to Ukrainian and Russian refugees persecuted for their democratic and religious beliefs
Your Majesty,
We, the undersigned, respectfully appeal to you to take immediate humanitarian measures to protect and support the citizens of Ukraine and Russia who are being persecuted for their democratic views and religious beliefs.
In Russia today, various religious groups, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, Falun Gong, and Rastafarianism, are banned and repressed. Additionally, thousands of people suffer persecution for supporting freedom of speech, human rights, and democracy. In Ukraine, millions have been forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing war.
In light of these circumstances, we urge the United Kingdom, as a nation with a long tradition of defending human rights and freedoms, to take the following steps:
1. Automatic asylum for all Ukrainians and Russians persecuted for their democratic views or religious beliefs, without prolonged bureaucratic procedures.
2. A fast-track pathway to citizenship (3–5 years) for all refugees in need of protection.
3. Comprehensive financial support for resettled individuals, including:
Free housing for 1–2 years
A monthly stipend covering basic needs
Free access to healthcare and education
4. Integration programs, including free language courses, employment assistance, and support for religious communities.
5. A humanitarian corridor and simplified entry procedures for those in need, without excessive checks and bureaucracy.
6. The establishment of a special assistance fund, financed by the government and charitable organizations, to support refugees and facilitate their integration into society.
We firmly believe that these measures will not only save thousands of lives but also strengthen the United Kingdom’s international reputation as a beacon of democracy and humanitarianism.
We kindly ask Your Majesty to consider this initiative and take the necessary steps for its implementation.
