We’re so excited to announce that our campaign has been shortlisted for the David and Goliath Award as part of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation National Campaigner Awards 2024! #LoveCampaigning #SMKAwards2024.
The Justice for Omisha campaign has been recognised by the SMK Foundation which nominated us to show their support for the campaign to grow and eventually to end the Hostile Environment immigration system for migrants and refugees. This recognition has given us hope that we are walking on the right path towards our final destination of ‘free NHS for all’. It has also encouraged us to continue fighting against the unjust system of NHS charging: we want to end all immigration checks in hospitals, stop them sending debt collectors to recover the huge bills, and put an end to the mental and emotional pressure that makes migrants suffer in silence.
You can also be part of the SMK Award 2024 by joining the live stream on Wednesday 15th of May from 6:15 pm to 8 pm - join us to find out if we won! You can also find out who else is on this year’s shortlist.
We promise to make use of this platform by connecting with more people and families who are in similar situations to us. Their stories will also be heard and told to make more people aware of the impact of the Hostile Environment. The ‘Justice of Omisha’ campaign will support all the stories and provide every support they deserve. With our wonderful team of campaigners, we will be doing more public events and campaigns in the upcoming months. I believe, with this campaign, we will be successful in building more people power which will eventually persuade the Government to end the harsh hostile environment policies of the NHS charging for migrants.
