The last 3 weeks have been quite the journey! Never dreamed this would gain so much exposure. My story has been told on the radio, online, on TV, shared Nationally and has reached from Bermuda to Thailand! I have had people reaching out to offer guidance, financial help, personal stories of suffering with keratoconus and more. It has opened my eyes to a province of people suffering with an eye disease that is slowly taking away their vision. A province who has not taken action after a 3 year pilot project had been completed with results proving CXL to halt the progression of keratoconus and should be covered by OHIP. A province who is now slightly changing their responses to the constant push for answers and solutions for people suffering with keratoconus. I received scary news that my left eye was too severe for CXL so I am waiting on my referral at the Ottawa Eye Institute for other options. My right eye does show abnormalities and will have CXL and PRK done to further prevent any changes. I will be having a consult through Kensington Institute to see what my options are. My left eye continues to change and I am noticing it more everyday. I will not let that stop me! I am going to continue to fight for answers, continue to push through the tough times and come out of this winning!
