Health Workers for Palestine (HW4P), the global organisation of healthcare workers behind this petition and nominations, wanted to update you with some excellent progress regarding the Nobel Peace Prize nomination 2024.
Eleven nominations have been submitted, covering paramedics, doctors, nurses, volunteers, healthcare workers, non-governmental organizations, hospitals, committees, and humanitarians. In addition to these, one supplementary journalist nomination was submitted.
This petition, with your comments, was submitted to the Norwegian Nobel committee as supporting evidence of the global support for these nominations. Next steps for the committee are: nominations will be shortlisted, thoroughly, and independently researched from February onwards and a winner announced early October. We have a very strong chance given the evident sacrifice by our hero healthcare workers from all the scenes coming out of Gaza.
As of 23rd January, 403 healthcare workers were killed in Gaza (Source: Healthcare Workers Watch). 120 journalists were killed (Source: WHO). Every single one of the 35 hospitals shelled and destroyed. One in the north has partially reopened after some aid arrived from WHO last week, and Al Nasser hospital in the south is partially open despite currently being under heavy bombardment. This is a testament to the resilience, resistance, sacrifice, and superhuman sense of duty by the healthcare workers towards the people they serve.
Now the good news is: as a collective movement supporting humanity, every single one who signed this petition has gained a small win and harnessed some power. The power to support justice.
Due to the reach and support we have had towards this petition, thanks to your signatures, shares and promotions, on the 26th January, led by Leeds Labour MP Richard Burgon, an early day motion was submitted to parliament to support the nomination of the Healthcare Workers in Gaza for the Nobel Peace Prize 2024.
This motion was backed by members of 5 major UK parties: Labour, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Green Party, Social Democratic & Labour party, and Alliance. More are supporting and signing this.
I wanted to share this great news with you as this movement is for humanity and justice and is a win by the people for the people. From the people of the world directly to the healthcare workers of Gaza. those still with us and those who have been killed. So thank you again so much for your support.
Please, those who live in the UK, if you have anymore capacity, can you write to your MP in support of this motion to give further amplification and chances of succeeding? Together, we can set a precedent for other governments watching that the will of the people matters. Hopefully, together our voices will make it to parliament and beyond.
Thank you again very much for your support.

Dear ........
Please can you support the Early Day Motion commending the nomination of health workers in Gaza for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Since the beginning of Israeli bombardment in October, over 403 healthcare workers have now been killed as a result of violations of medical neutrality and humanitarian law. The Healthcare workers in Gaza have worked tirelessly in very difficult conditions to save lives despite being shot at, displaced, illegally detained, and lacking essential supplies to safely care for patients. Can you help to give them the recognition they deserve by showing your support?
Many thanks ...........
