
MSF ( Doctors without Borders): A shelter housing 100+ staff and their family was shelled without warning on 7/01/2024 resulting in the 5 year old daughter of a staff member to be in a critical condition. MSF has had to evacuate staff from Al-Aqsa Hospital for their own safety given this threat to life.
MAP and International rescue committee (IRC)'s Emergency Medical Team: On 7/1/24 these organisations have made the difficult decision to withdraw their staff from Gaza due to the significant and escalating risk to the life of healthcare workers.
Al- Aqsa hospital in central Gaza - The last 'functioning' hospital in Gaza's central area with currently only 5 doctors still standing - came under heavy drone air strikes on 7/1/2024 with 600 critically ill patients and health workers having to be evacuated. The location of these patients and healthcare workers remain unknown. Despite the risk to their lives - volunteer nurses remained on site to receive annd care for the average daily 100 casualties who have no other facility to go to. Al-Amal Hospital: On 5/1/24 the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Southern Gaza came under heavy shelling and missiles. There were thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) sheltering in this humanitarian space as well as the injured. A volunteer for the PRCS emergency medical personnel was killed - bringing the total of paramedic/ EMT casualties to 28.
Northern Gaza - No reliable reporting is available on the healthcare situation in Northern Gaza due to the significant risk of being killed in the area. However there are reports of mass detentions and abductions.
