On Wednesday, 17th July well-known journalist Shekhar Gupta sent out a misinformed tweet about the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. Here is what he wrote:

Maximum or not, incredible city Bombay...Activists & courts won’t let a coastal road be built. Lata Mangeshkar won’t let Pedder Road be widened...Then, everybody’ll complain about traffic, lousy infra, tiny airport, rising pollution, living in a dying city blah blah

Perhaps Shekhar Gupta has not studied the Coastal Road plans and needs more information.

Here’s what you can do: Help Shekhar understand the issue better. This is important because he’s an influencer whose views can shape public opinion.

The Coastal Road is not the solution to Mumbai’s problems but actually the cause of a potential urban disaster. The way for the future of any smart government is sustainable development not rampant destruction of the nation’s natural resources.
