Dear Responsible Citizens,
Today is Sunday, June 16th, 2019. Tomorrow is an important day for us. Our matter is being heard in the Bombay High Court.
The BMC's argument is that the Coastal Road is a matter of national importance. This why we disagree:
"To claim that this (the Coastal Road) is a project of national importance is a flagrant misunderstanding of what national importance truly is.
These are matters of national importance:
1. Securing the environment for future generations.
2. Protecting the public from the worst impacts of climate change.
3. Investing in public transport.
4. Empowering poor communities and
5. Protecting ecological assets
Spending public money on an elite project, is not a matter of national importance."
Please think about these wise words from Bittu Sehgal who has been crusading for environmental causes of national importance, for decades.
WE NEED YOUR HELP: only 400 more signatures are required on the petition to hit 1 lac signatures. Every signature matters.
Please get more people to sign and speak up about matters of national importance.
Thank you,
Save Our Coast
