Firstly, I hope you are all well. Secondly, I hope you stay that way.
Response from the government to the Petitions Committee inquiry report.
In all of the responses and reports and inquiries, what they don't seem to get, is that the data they want so badly, on which to base their decision ...IS NOT THERE... The reason it isn't there is that fireworks are legal 16hrs a day. That's like saying there is no negative data about cars driving at 30mph in a 30mph zone.
Don't give up, write to your MP, complain to the council, log incidents of any sort with the animal welfare organizations. Send emails to everyone you can think of.. give them the data to give to the government. (data just means numbers...numbers of complaints/emails, numbers of accidents, numbers of injuries etc.)
We will continue with the campaign. No need to rush at the moment, BUT we will not go away.
Please continue to share this petition, continue to support our campaign and speak to your friends so they can join us. There are some who say we are a minority... WE KNOW we are not, we just need to prove it.
Chair of the Petitions Committee, Catherine McKinnell MP, said:
“This is a disappointing response from the Government to our fireworks inquiry and, when normal business resumes, we will be pursuing this issue further.”
