Today I went with the RSPCA to Birmingham to hand in this petition to the Office for Product Safety and Standards. At the debate FAB achieved in January it was said the this office would be able to advise the government on products, one of which would be fireworks. They decided that education was the way to go.
Anyway ....needless to say, they have done ...NOTHING. ............... Well actually I lie!.
On 28th October they put up this page. (note: it is now called the party season, not Guy Fawkes.) So you can all rest easy now, the education of the masses has begun. Of course, all the people who use fireworks as weapons have rushed to that page, as have your neighbours who randomly let off fireworks irrespective of your dogs/cats/rabbits having a meltdown, irrespective of the barn full of hay and horses close by and completely irrespective of any person who finds the whole thing terrifying or unbearable for whatever reason.
This petition will stay open and I really hope to get 500,000 at least. Please share with your friends and family, MPs only deal in numbers when they may translate into votes.
Please would you also make sure you have signed and shared this government petition which is being debated on Monday 26th November. I would just like to make sure we really show the strength of feeling among the general public, the voters! (keep that in mind.. ;) )
