Thanks to You, Tamil Credit in Katy ISD Has a Real Path Forward

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your incredible support over the past several months. Your signatures, messages, and encouragement helped bring this effort before the Katy ISD Board of Trustees. While the board was receptive, Tamil cannot currently be approved for world language credit because Katy ISD requires a 4-skill (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) proficiency test, and the district's current provider, AVANT, only offers a 2-skill Tamil test.

However, this is not a rejection. It's a clear path forward, and we now know exactly what needs to happen. Through continued research, I identified ALTA, which offers a full 4-skill Tamil proficiency exam. My next step is to work with the district to evaluate ALTA as an approved testing option. I will also engage with AVANT to explore the possibility of developing a Tamil 4-skill test, which could provide an additional pathway for approval.

The process continues to move forward, and the progress we've made would not have been possible without your support. Thank you again for standing with us. I will keep you updated as we take the next steps toward making Tamil world language credit a reality in Katy ISD.
