Kirsty is in her thirties and has congenital heart disease. She lives with her husband a mile down a track on an estate in Aberdeenshire; her nearest neighbour is half a mile away.
Her broadband is provided by satellite, a system that isn’t the most reliable at the best of times she says as it keeps cutting out. The satellite dish on the side of the house runs to a Wi-Fi box inside which in turn is powered by electricity. Mobile phones don’t work at the house – you have to go to the main road a mile away to get a signal.
Kirsty's safety depends on her landline, her analogue landline. If her power goes off and her husband is at work a back up battery with an hour’s life might not be enough if she needs an ambulance – a scarce enough commodity as it is.
Please encourage your friends to sign the petition and put pressure on the Ofcom Board to meet some of us and discuss because at the moment, they don't understand
