Breaking News: Joyce implicated in OIA investigation!
Revelations are mooted as to why the stand over tactics by Transport Minister Simon Bridges. His attempts at muzzling Kiwirail now shows Minister of Finance Steven Joyce cost benefit ratio of the controversial $2 billion dollar East West-Link roading project didn't pass the sniff test.
With Auckland commuters suffering rage from an increasing amount of traffic congestion, many transport experts are now questioning the real reasons behind the bizarre rejection of budget funding for a section of rail line of the city rail network? One that would help ease traffic congestion by taking hundreds of trucks off a clogged roading network. Where the cost benefit ratio does actually stack up.
Is the real reason Steven Joyce is pandering to one of the National party's largest donators, trucking lobbyists, the Road Transport Forum?
A change in the criteria of the East West link into a road of national significance (RON) is nothing short of ' trucking welfare', the business case never stacked up from the get go.
From the nation interview where it is alleged, for good reason Joyce is not practicing what he preaches;
East-West Link
The interview moved on to the East-West link and in particular the economic assessment of it.
"Let’s look at some of the specific projects you’re funding. The Auckland East-West Link Road, approximately 8 K’s of road that could cost around $2 billion. Now, the original cost-benefit ratio didn’t meet what your government would normally expect of a standard. And you’ve told the council, and Steven Joyce has told the council, to be more efficient with its spending. So why aren’t you taking your own advice?"
