New Zealand has the highest rate of homeless people in the Western World.

According to a University of Otago Study in 2013, there were at least 41,000 homeless New Zealanders, or about one in every100 New Zealanders.
This includes people sleeping rough, living in cars or garages, or living in emergency or temporary shelters.

We cannot afford to take in refugees when our own people are being neglected.
We are in a critical housing CRISIS.
Instead of putting others in their place put Kiwis in first.

The Greens' key housing points pushed housing as a basic right, that everyone should have secure tenure of appropriate housing and that no one should be prevented from establishing a decent home because of a low income.

We need to LOOK AFTER OUR OWN PEOPLE, before opening our doors to Refugees.
New Zealanders want our own backyard sorted first.

The $81 million spent EVERY year on 750 refugees (for their first 3 years), could fund 162 new homes EVERY year, for our own Kiwis to live in.
