HUD awarded. 275 million to Coney Island housing developments for the Sandy Recovery Project. O’Dwyer Gardens  was awarded 104.842,000 for repairs and renovation. This petition is for Odwyer to stand up a let NYCHA know that they have mismanaged funding for our development for too long and we the residents have suffered with being last on the list of developments to be renovated, residents falling on broken  grounds, children raised up 2 decades waiting for a new playground, no proper lighting and mailboxes that are broken and wet. HUD regulation 964. States we are stakeholder and Resident leaders should be at the table when decisions about the development they represent are made, not after NYCHA is in perpetual violations of this regulation . The original scope of work in detail listed 17 items to be addressed. They have spent 38 million dollars so far on what I can’t say  because on the list of scope of work only 3 things where done. We only have 6 buildings and I am not a rocket scientist however new roofs don’t cost that much or combined brickwork which is falling apart on our terraces. We have residents who have been out of their apartments since sandy Still waiting for renovations 8 years later.  We where promised a community space from NYCHA in a mechanical building located behind building 4 ( 2940 west 33rd street) NYCHA has since changed the scope of work without any prior notification to residents. Instead they  sent out a flyer for residents to choose designs of the Aquarium or the Wonderwheel  with less than a week to decide. They claim they received 250 responses for the Aquarium design. First of all O’Dwyer should not be affiliated with either design  unless they are funding us in some type of way which they are not. This petition is to keep our first design of the first building with space enough to create a community space with a commitment of funding by our own Elected Officials to secure that space NYCHA claims they have no funding for..
