Create a New Alley Pond Park Dog Run

Create a New Alley Pond Park Dog Run

The Issue

The Oakland Gardens community needs an adequate area to allow their dogs to socialize and exercise off-leash. The off-leash hours in Alley Pond Park are inconvenient for many dog owners and the nearest dog runs are over 2 miles away (Cunningham Park Dog Run & Little Bay Park Dog Run). For many people, without automobiles, these other locations are too far away. As Queens second largest park, a dog run in Alley Pond Park would not only make sense but would bring the community closer together. We want to bring the community's need for a new dog run to the attention of City Council Member Barry Grodenchik as well as the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (specifically Mitchell J. Silver, Department of Parks and Recreation Commissioner).
