it's been a while but change is coming!

Hi everyone, this update has been long overdue, but after 2 years of: researching on disability, meeting with staff from NUS Office of Facilities Management and Office of Student Affairs, having conversations with my professors and peers and student leaders of the NUS Enablers club, I’ve finally submitted a document on what can be done to improve the FASS campus!

I apologise for the super late update - I was extremely busy with Year 3 and Year 4, as well as juggling a job while studying and taking care of my mental health. I’m so happy to be able to share this document that I have submitted to NUS. It is a pretty comprehensive (but not exhaustive) document of ways that the campus can be upgraded.

I am very grateful to have the opportunity, over the past year, to speak to NUS staff members on what can be done to improve the campus experience. I would also love to give a big shout out to the NUS Enablers, a CCA that is extremely passionate about this matter and I’m thankful for the support that the student leaders have given me. I hope that NUS works closely with them and supports them in their endeavours when it comes to matters pertaining to accessibility on campus.

I would also love to express my immense gratitude to all of you for signing this petition. I never imagined that it would gain this much traction when I first started it. In a position of privilege, we only appreciate our “normal” and how lucky we are when it is disrupted. However, that new normal has been someone’s lived experience for years, or even their whole life. I highly urge all of you to find something that you are passionate about and to come together with others who feel the same way, to rally for a change. I believe that we all have a strong social responsibility and that change only comes about when we come together to make it happen.

I hope that as NUS continues to develop into a better global and regional hub, that it leaves no student behind. The staff of OFM has assured me that they will be working on the feedback given and hence, we're one step closer to our objective of making the FASS campus a more accessible campus! With that, this petition is coming to a close - coincidentally on the 2nd anniversary of me dislocating my kneecap. It was definitely as life-changing and humbling event.
