Petition to support NT Aboriginal language education

We resolve to communicate to the NT Department of Education that we are very concerned that Aboriginal language literacy and culture programs in Central Australian schools are being neglected. We would like to see the Department supporting the programs in each of the schools where the Aboriginal community is in agreement. The support of ongoing training of Aboriginal teaching staff and also the production of Aboriginal language resources is crucial. This may mean there needs to be more teacher linguists located in community schools who support these programs.
Aboriginal language and culture programs (as well as English literacy programs) should be the norm in all schools for all students.
