My eleven year old daughter loves cycling to her primary school. She's turning twelve soon at which point, under NSW Law, she will have to start cycling on the road - along with all the cars, buses and trucks in peak hour traffic.

Nearly thirty cyclists were killed on Australian roads last year - so they're definitely not a safe place for our children to be. I don't want my daughter to stop cycling but I also don't want her to be killed or seriously injured by a careless driver.

If she in lived Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, ACT or the Northern Territory she'd still be allowed to ride on the footpath - which is much safer!

At age twelve, children are still too young to cycle on the road. Please change the law so that children over the age of eleven aren't forced onto the road, it's far too dangerous for them.
