I'm sure many of you are concerned about the recent announcement today regarding our return to school. I've just contacted Sarah Mitchell (Minister for Education) and attached this petition to the message. Hopefully we will hear from her soon. Here are some things we can do in the meanwhile -
1) Promote the message on social media. Express your thoughts and concerns. Create posts/stories and tag in it people who can make a change (e.g Gladys, Sarah, etc). Start a trend under the hashtag #cancelthehsc2021. This is a great way to get their attention.
2) Contact them expressing your concerns. There's power in the numbers. Below are links to the contact forums where you can send your message to them. You can also try doing this on their social media (DM's, commenting, etc)
Gladys Berejiklian (Premiere NSW) - https://www.nsw.gov.au/premier-of-nsw/contact-premier
Sarah Mitchell (Minister for Edu.) - https://www.nsw.gov.au/nsw-government/ministers/minister-for-education-and-early-childhood-learning
3) Contact media outlets and propose something to them. Express your thoughts and concerns and what you wish to be heard. We all know that this is an excellent way to gain attention. There should be a contact button on each media platform's page.
This petition and my letter to the education minister can only do so much. We have to utilise every single opportunity and mechanism we can to gain attention. Put your passion and frustration into taking action. The more people directly contribute, the greater chance of success we will have.
I will keep you all updated if anything new happens.
Follow @cancelthehsc on Instagram for frequent updates (I don't run this account but this person often posts updates on the petition. You can also find things to repost on there)
