Great job, drivers! We are about to hit 1500 signatures. We’ve been doing a great job and we had a head start thanks to all the people who helped posting this petition on the front pages of several forums and boards.
Unfortunately our work is all but done, now: I have good (?) news for you all! :)
We definitely got the attention of Codemasters. BOOM.
During the first live stream ever of Dirt Rally 2.0 yesterday, the infamous (I’m joking, kids!) Community Manager Christina McGrath and Head Game Designer Ross Gowing spoke about the game reveal and the future plans, while showing some juicy gameplay.
The first matter they wanted to speak about with the fans was exactly what you would never say: VR support for Dirt Rally 2.0.
Yeah yeah, I can see you with your sweaty fingers over the wheel, VR sticked to your grumpy face, cutting corners in a rocky stage in Germany. Noobs.
You like to cut corners, innit? I’ll do that for you: here’s the transcription of what the devs said:
“We won’t be having VR for launch”, said Gowing, “but is something we’re listening to, all the comments and all the things the community has to say about it”. Then he added: “If there’s enormous demand for it then yes, we can do it. It’s not small undertaking but if it’s what people want then yes, we’ll try to get it done”.
So, here we are. We won a small battle! As I said, Codemasters read all your comments, all your tweets and it’s very likely that they keep an eye on our petition.
“ggwp m8!” you are saying. “NO!”, it’s my answer. The war is not over yet. Codies clearly did confirm again VR compatibility for Dirt Rally 2.0 is not in they plans at the moment. They saw we are here, they heard us shouting, but we are still not enough to make the difference. We need to be more, we need to shout louder!
So, again, keep sharing the petition! Now that our threads on the boards are slowly slipping behind the front pages, it is less likely to reach more users this way. Now it’s the right moment to share it. Use the #NoVRnoBuy hashtag! Send a message to your friends, your parents or even your pets, if they own a smartphone and a twitter account. It doesn’t matter if they are hardcore gamers or they can barely do some crosswords, as long you show them our point of view they will be happy to help (or you can just beat the crap out of them - again, I’m joking. I will never ask you to hit your pets. You may consider hitting your family and your friends, though.)
Finally, again, a HUGE thank you, guys. You are doing a really good job.
DON’T CUT, BE BRAVE!
