Council Approves 3-2 to Accept Proposals for Hamilton Town Center (including housing)

On February 28, the Novato City Council voted 3-2 to allow Requests for Proposals for the Hamilton Town Center. (Pat Eklund and Pam Drew voted against). The requests for proposals can include housing proposals. From the Marin IJ article attached: "Councilman Eric Lucan made the motion for approval with the caveat the City Council review in closed session all proposals received, but that those proposals considered viable also will be presented in an open session." Again, the proposals will not be made public until the council has reviewed them in CLOSED SESSION. Only proposals that the council selects will be presented in open session. This is another blow to transparency. Please email your council and demand that a summary of each proposal should be made available to the public before closed session. novatocouncil@novato.org This petition effort started out when a closed session proposal was scheduled with a housing developer in 2017. That proposal was withdrawn because of public pressure for an open process. Do not allow the City to take a step backwards on transparency. Email the council to make all proposals public! novatocouncil@novato.org -Tracey toruiz@yahoo.com
