HAMILTON TOWN CENTER SALE PROCESS ON TUESDAY COUNCIL AGENDA

CITY COUNCIL WILL VOTE FOR A PROCESS FOR SALE OF THE HAMILTON TOWN CENTER and 12 other Hamilton properties!
Help us Save and Preserve the Hamilton Town Center for community use. Your participation is important and our voices can make a difference.
ACTION ITEMS:
Monday:
Email the Novato City Council at novatocouncil@novato.org
Tell them NO! You do not want the City to Sell or Lease the Hamilton Town Center. This area was never intended for infill housing in city planning documents. This is far more residential than was planned for Hamilton and infrastructure (Nave Drive).
Tuesday:
Attend Tuesday, November 28th Council meeting at the Novato Unified School District office. (New location). 7:35 p.m. approximate for general business.

Try to read the staff report on the agenda. This 37- page staff reports on this week's City Council meeting boils down to this:
The city staff recommends a "Sole Source Land SALE" for the Hamilton Town Center, Commissary Site, Old Gym Parking lot and Bachelor's Officers Quarters. PAGE 19
Essentially, the city staff would identify a developer to purchase the property. The alternate process recommended is a Request for Proposals process which is putting the property out to bid.
In either scenario, it creates a situation where the outcome is pre-determined. The Town Center Parcel development WILL BE SOLD or LEASED. It doesn't provide any option for non-profit development of the Town Center or holding it for community use. This would include the preschool, dance center and community center building. Saving the theater for a stage is not an option on the staff recommendation.
The likely scenario is that the developer who has already expressed interest last March would put in high density housing in that area with the necessary parking.
The staff report points to the April Community Meeting as the public outreach. We had been told there would be many other opportunities to have a visioning process for the Hamilton Town Center. The city has disregarded the 400 signatures on this petition and the public comments.
The way to SAVE the Hamilton Town Center parcel is to attend the Tuesday, November 28th meeting to be held at the Novato Unified School District. The general session starts around 7:30 p.m.
Please attend if you can. The city is relying on the fact that the timing of this issue is poor and the location is confusing. YOUR PARTICIPATION WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Please email your council at novatocouncil@novato.org by tomorrow.
Our message is simple: We do not want to sell or lease the Hamilton Town Center. We want this property preserved for COMMUNITY use by all of the city of Novato.
Thank you for your support to save the heart of Hamilton for the community.
