Council To Vote on Sale of Hamilton Town Center on Tuesday, March 28

The City of Novato staff is recommending to the Council that the Hamilton Town Center and the Commissary Triangle be put out for a Request for Proposals. This is an invitation for developers to purchase. 90 day period for proposals. It's not a lot of time unless someone is waiting in the wings, like a developer that already submitted a unsolicited proposal for housing at Hamilton Town Center. Novato City Council Meeting Tuesday, March 28, 2017 City Hall, 901 Sherman Avenue 6:30 p.m. Agenda Item I: 9. HAMILTON FEDERAL LANDS TO PARKS EXCHANGE PARCELS – DISPOSITION PROCESS (This means Hamilton Town Center is for SALE! There is no mention of Hamilton Town Center or Commissary site in the agenda item or description. Please read the staff report item #5 that talks about the lower Hamilton residential values.) The Hamilton Theater/Town Center parcel includes the pre-school, dance center, and community center and the 1930's Hamilton Theater. You must write your council at: novatocouncil@novato.org Ask them to remove the historic Hamilton Town Center parcel from the RFP (request for proposals by developers). Historic Hamilton Town Center is NOT FOR SALE! Please come and speak at the council meeting. You will have three minutes to help save this parcel for open space and community use. P.S. The community meeting had a heavy pro-developer, pro-housing contingent. This will be a tough battle unless Hamilton/Novato VOTERS speak up. This is an election year!
