KEEP BISHOPS COURT CARE HOME OPEN

The Issue

Bishops Court is a County Council run care home that provides 4 star care facilities for its residents that are suffering from advanced disabilities including dementia. They are not just elderly people that benefit from moving into smaller accommodation, warden aided, or can be dealt with by three visits a day visits and a meal left for them to cook.

Nottingham County Council are proposing to close this purpose built home and 5 other homes due to cut backs. However, they are proposing to spend 7 million on Wheelie new bins.

The Council is planning to place these people with the private sector, that do not have the facilities to care for them. The Council run homes, provide the high standard that the private sector are policed by, if they are to go, how is the private sector to be judged? If they had the power to close hospitals in the same way, what chaos would we be in? There is no other place for our residents to go, there is no in between!

There are over 200 jobs that will go. Not normal jobs, these are professional people, that can do, what us, the relatives, can not. This will also have an effect, yet again, on local economies.

They are proposing to move these people from their homes, a place of safety, to place of risk. These people have contributed in huge ways to society, yet now, as they become old and frail, they have no voice to support them.

We, the Bishops Court Action Group are that voice, please support us.  WE only have until the 16th Jan 15 to submit our opinion.
