As a student living in Lenton, it is fair to say that it is not a safe area to live. Every day on the Nottingham buy/sell page I see victims coming home from a night out and being attacked, cars vandalised and homes broken into. It happens so often that it is the norm and I'm sick of it (I'm sure most of you are too).

Data from www.police.uk shows that in 2018 January-November there was a total of over 1900 reported crimes. That is an average of 6 reported crimes per day! Note that not all crimes are reported so the number of crimes is certainly more. The data also shows that there is an increased rate of crime during the academic year, which indicates that us students are being preyed on. 

On top of all of our uni work and stress, the last thing we want is to come home feeling unsafe or after a night out being afraid to walk home.

These problems could vastly be reduced if there were more police patrolling the area, especially at night time. Visible police patrol could act as a deterrent and prevent these crimes from happening in the first place and help reduce the unacceptable levels of crime in what should be a student friendly area.
