Dear friends and supporters,

I am writing this with a heavy but grateful heart.

Over the past days, many of you stood with me to protect Malta’s pigeons. You signed, you shared, you donated, and you showed that compassion for these birds is very real in our community. We reached nearly 1,000 signatures together, and I cannot thank you enough for the trust you placed in this initiative.

Today, I learned something important: the Maltese Government only recognizes petitions that are submitted through its official website. This means that, despite our collective effort and goodwill, the petition I created privately cannot be formally considered by the authorities. I have even called the government section that handles petitions, and they have told me they can't do anything about it.

Because of this, I will be closing this petition.

I feel disheartened that our momentum cannot be used in the way I had hoped. But I also feel deeply proud of what we showed - that many people care, and that this issue matters.

Your support is not wasted. It is simply being redirected.

From now on, I will be focusing all efforts on the official government petition so that our voices can be heard in the way that is actually recognized.

Thank you for believing in this cause. Thank you for standing with the pigeons. And thank you for walking this next step with me.

Here's my email should you wish to connect with me: mariahiviecutajar@gmail.com

With sincere gratitude,
Mariah
