Consider your 'Options' carefully...AND attend Precinct this Thursday!

North Sydney Council has presented four Options on their on their 'Your Say' page (https://yoursay.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/watt-park-stairs). Please note, all four Options feature steel handrails and balustrades similar to those pictured (which the community and Precinct were very much against). One option Council representatives have refused to put on the table is conservation and sympathetic restoration. This would increase the safety of the current stairs, whilst preserving their character and the beauty of the area. Please attend Lavender Bay Precinct this Thursday, 22nd February at 8pm at the McMahons Point Community Centre if you live in the Lavender Bay area (see map on previous update). The Watt Park stairs are the first item on the agenda (so please be on time!); and Council staff will be in attendance. It is imperative we get our views across in Precinct as well as via written correspondence and the website; as Council is very reluctant at this stage to let go of their attachment to those galvanised steel handrails (anyone would think they had shares in BHP Steel!). Thank you for your support for the Watt Park stairs...the campaign has become somewhat more drawn out than I expected, however I believe it's a cause and an area worth fighting for!
