The Heritage Council of NSW has recommended to the Minister that an Interim Heritage Order should be placed on the MLC Building as its State Heritage Register Committee (under authority delegated by the Heritage Council)resolved:
"1. The item known as “MLC Building” at 105-153 Miller Street, North Sydney may be found on further inquiry or investigation, to be of state heritage significance.
2. To recommend to the Minister that an Interim Heritage Order for the MLC Building be made pursuant to section 24 of the Heritage Act 1977 to enable that further inquiry to be undertaken as the item is under immediate or imminent threat of harm."
It is now up to the Minister whether to decide place an Order on the building so further assessment of the building's significance can be undertaken.
We are urging the Minister to make such a decision to allow an unbiased and complete assessment of the building's significance.
