Commission a feasibility study for the TawLink tramway between Barnstaple and Braunton
The Issue
The A361 Barnstaple-Braunton road is frequently at a standstill, causing delays, frustration and pollution (North Devon's only Air Quality Management Area is in Braunton.) Extensive residential and commercial development is planned along this corridor, which will only make traffic levels worse.
The old railway formation lies alongside all the planned developments. It is wide enough to accommodate a new tramway and the Tarka Trail cycle path. The TawLink tramway will reduce road congestion and air pollution. It will greatly improve local connectivity, bringing social and economic benefits to the area.
