4,000 signatures on eve of public comment meeting! Keep signing!

Fishermen, their families and industry supporters are encouraged to attend a public meeting of the NC Marine Fisheries Commission tomorrow (Tuesday, January 17) at 12:30 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center (203 South Front St.) where public comment will be taken regarding proposed rules that could shut down the trawl fishery. In 2013, when a similar petition was before the MFC, trawlers steamed up the Neuse River to anchor in front of the convention center. Advocates are hoping to see even bigger showing tomorrow, as the community comes together to oppose a ban on a historic fishery.
