En vous réitérant mes fidèles et cordiales salutations, Daniel H. Fruman _______________________________ PRESS RELEASE The French Ministry of Culture and Communication met, on Tuesday June 28th, with the representatives of the Chamber of commerce and industry of Lyon, the City of Lyon and the Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, as well as Thierry Le Roy, the mediator appointed by the ministry to draw the conclusions of the mission which had been entrusted to him on the institutional future of the Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs of Lyon. The above partners continue thus the dialogue and the exchange initiated last January around the prefect of the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which already insured the opening of the museum during 2016 thanks to the involvement of the State and the regions in favor of this major institution. The partners are committed to find a new solution concerning the governance and the financing of the museum for 2017. The State, the Chamber of commerce and industry, the City and the Region agree on the creation, next autumn, of an association, which will be in charge of managing the museum starting January 1st, 2017. This association will allow the various partners to keep the museum alive and to start a period of thinking on the statutory evolution of the museum and its collections, and the definition of a mid-term scientific and cultural project. At the same time, an endowment fund will be set up to federate private partners around the museum. In parallel, a scientific committee will be installed to accompany the new governance of the museum, participate at the elaboration of a scientific and cultural project and set the ambitious program that all the partners wishes to promote for the institution. The public partners - Ministry of Culture and Communication, the City of Lyon and the Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes - and the Chamber of commerce and industry of Lyon Métropole, owner of the museum and its collections, congratulate themselves on the agreement achieved to guarantee the perpetuation of the Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs of Lyon, first step of a deper reflection on the development of the institution. Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, thanks Thierry Le Roy for his implication and the quality of the work conducted within the framework of his mission. ________________________________________________
