Hey there! Hope you're doing well during these times.
In February 2018, ABC was supposed to air a "Black-ish" episode that featured a convo about athletes like Colin Kaepernick taking a knee during the anthem. The episode never aired.
The "real" reason (if you believe ABC) was due to a comment one of the characters made about Donald Trump.
Regardless, the episode never saw the light of day ... until now.
Show creator Kenya Barris (who ended up leaving ABC for Netflix after the incident) made the announcement today, in part mentioned below:
“Please, Baby, Please” didn’t make it to air that season and, while much has been speculated about its contents, the episode has never been seen publicly… until now. I’m excited to share that “Please, Baby, Please” is now available on Hulu.
Following the re-airing of “Juneteenth” and “Hope,” I asked Walt Disney Television to revisit making the episode available. Recognizing the importance of this moment, they listened and agreed."
So it seems like the George Floyd situation was the reason for the change. In other words, the *higher-ups* finally saw the light!
A little over 2 years ago, we also created an online petition asking for the episode to be aired. 17,000+ people signed it. So we just declared it a success due to this news!
Now if Kaepernick can get a chance to play again...we'd come full circle. Kaep hasn't announced his retirement, so we're assuming he's still ready to go while he waits to get a "legitimate" call to tryout again.
So we wait until that happens.
