#WhyWeKneel

Ever since Colin Kaepernick took his knee 2 years ago, there has been an outcry that has 2 sides:

  1. Kaepernick is right
  2. He's disrespecting the military/country.

The NFL and its owners have been listening to the latter, since they are the ones "mostly" in political/business power. The NFL doesn't want to hurt its so-called "paying" customers & sponsors.

As a result, Kaepernick's reason for taking his knee became distorted.

However, there's a major pushback to get the message back on the right track. First, Kaepernick's NFL collusion case will go on trial. Second, NFL sponsor Nike (Kaepernick's sponsor since 2011) has publicly supported him, leading to praise & backlash. Finally, on Tuesday the NFL said the issues "deserve our attention and action".

Now that the 2018 NFL Season starts today, we are now saying #WhyWeKneel. It appears (after 2 whole years) that people still don't understand why Colin Kaepernick took his knee. Or maybe they don't care. Our #WhyWeKneel campaign will aim to solve this.

WHAT IS IT?

We partnered up with the Lawyers Committee of Civil Rights Under Law (who lead this recent letter to the NFL), and produced 11 graphics which explains #WhyWeKneel. These includes facts such as "57% of African American women killed by police were unarmed from May 2013 to January 2015", and much, much more.

HOW YOU CAN TAKE PART

It's very easy! DURING WEEK 1 OF THE REGULAR SEASON (STARTING THIS EVENING), YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY ONE OF THESE 11 GRAPHICS, AND POST THEM ONLINE WITH THE HASHTAG #WhyWeKneel. It's that simple. This is used to raise true awareness of this human rights issue that we face today!

WHERE'S THE GRAPHICS?

You can get the graphics one of six (6) ways:

  1. Download the collection of graphics by clicking here (it's a zip file)
  2. View & Download it from the Lawyers Committee website.
  3. View & Download it from our website (high resolution)
  4. Share/Retweet them from our Twitter page.
  5. Share them from our Facebook page.
  6. Repost them from our Instagram page.

WHEN TO POST?

We will post these during Week 1 of the NFL Season. The schedule are as follows:

  • Thursday (tonight), 9/6 – 8:00 pm
  • Sunday 9/9 – 1:00 pm (early games), 4:25 pm (afternoon games), 8:20 pm (night game)
  • Monday 9/10 – 7:10 pm (early Monday Night Football), 10:15 pm (late Monday Night Football)

When people are watching the games, make sure you share one of the graphics and add the tag #WhyWeKneel -- so people won't EVER FORGET what Kaepernick & Eric Reid possibly sacrificed their career for. He did it for us!

#WhyWeKneel

Note: There's more things coming after week 1. This is just the beginning. And please don't watch the games. If you did it last season you can certainly do it again this season.

Note 2: All issues with links, etc that took place at the original time of this update have all been resolved.
