We just sent an update earlier today about Week 2 of the boycott. We try to send as few updates as possible, but this one we couldn't pass up.
Earlier today, the Philadelphia Eagles' owner Jeffrey Lurie spoke out about Colin Kaepernick when he was asked about it during their impromptu "State of the Eagles" address today.
In short, this is what Lurie said (per Marcus Hayes / philly.com):
“I don’t think anybody who is protesting the national anthem … is very respectful. If that’s all their platform is, is to protest the national anthem, then what’s the proactive nature of it?”
“Anybody who wants to do proactive things, to try to reverse social injustice, I’m all in favor of. It has to be respectful. It certainly has to respect the military and the people that serve, the women and men that serve our country, emergency responders, whoever that is.”
“I applaud anybody that can find respectful ways of trying to use their platform in some way to discuss social injustice."
Don't forget since Kaepernick's knee, he donated almost $1 million to help organizations that aligned with causes he protested about. But don't let the Eagles owner know about that. He'll just call it "Fake News".
If Lurie feels this way, imagine how other NFL owners feel about Kaepernick and his "disrespect".
