PETITION AGAINST THE PROPOSED ZONING CHANGE AT 1900 W. RIVERSIDE DRIVE, GLENDALE, CA THAT WOULD ENABLE DEVELOPERS TO REMOVE & REPLACE SILVER SPUR STABLES WITH A 21-CONDO DEVELOPMENT!
The developer seeks a major zoning change at the site of the historic and cherished Silver Spur Stables that would permit demolition of it and the vacating of a 30-foot wide portion of adjacent Allen Avenue. The developer proposes a 21-unit three-story multifamily project with on-site parking.
The proposed zoning change would materially and substantially alter the equestrian character and history of the neighborhood, and remove valuable open space that has for decades provided riders with reasonable access to Griffith Park and local bridle trails. The new zoning to permit condos would also negatively impact neighborhood traffic, and remove parking space for equestrian visitors, boarders, and related maintenance vehicles. It would provide no substantial value to the Rancho or its visitors, and the adverse impacts on this unique Glendale neighborhood would far outweigh any benefits.
We strongly OPPOSE the proposed zoning change and request that it be DENIED.
