Hi folks,

I wanted to provide an update on:

1) Why I am doing this and 2) Who am I?

1. I am doing this because I want to conserve the pristine Gippsland coastline. That is it - pure and simple. The proposal to have offshore turbines has been on the radar for sometime, however the announcement to support offshore turbines comes at the expense of those who live, travel and enjoy the Gippsland coastline. I want to help raise attention to the cause. 

We are really disappointed that the turbines COULD BE BUILT many many km's out in the ocean, out of vision. HOWEVER, the proposal puts the turbines within a few kms of the beach - this MAKES NO SENSE. 

I have not seen any rationale as to why the turbines cannot be built off the horizon...totally out of sight. Should this happen, it would be a 'win win' for all.

2. I am a Melbournian. I also am a member of the 90-mile beach community. I am invested in the area in every way. I am also 'anonymous' in this petition because I value my privacy, but also I am mindful of being targeted by those who may misconstrue the nature of this petition. I support renewables and clean energy and want climate change to be addressed. I do sometimes fear that by voicing slight opposition to this movement could draw adverse attention to me. I don't want this. 

In the end, those of us to live and travel to the 90 mile beach and Gippsland are humble, respective people, who value nature and at the same time, are progressive and want to protect our environment. 

Don't trample on us and ruin our beautiful natural wonder.
