The Issue
NO TO MOTORSPORTS IN RESIDENTIAL, EQUESTRIAN AREA IN CHINO VALLEY, ARIZONA.
As residents of Chino Valley, we are VERY AGAINST the Motorsports coming to the Old Home Manor land next to CVYC.
We all enjoy our rural and quiet way of life.
We do not want to be subjected to the increased traffic, noise, safety issues, and possible increased crime that we believe will come with the establishment of this track. Please see below and reflect on these points.
*Mr. Brinkley (the builder of this track) at a council meeting proposed growing this track to a 5,000 spectator seat grand stand, and future drag racing (drag racing doesn't require the mufflers that stock cars do/have) - at this point no one has tested decibel level for drag racing or crowd noise of that size.
*They average noise, as stated by Mr. Brinkley and the Town, made by the stock cars (WITH A MUFFLER) is between 72-90 decibels.
The Orange County (California) Health Department Report (1972) provides results from its study as to the maximum level of noise people in rural residential areas will accept without complaining. This study is CURRENTLY used by the U.S. Department of Transportation in planning noise levels on new projects, and suggests the following:
Rural Residential Decibels - Daytime 35-40 / Night time 25-35
*The track would like to hold races Fri, Sat, and Sun from 6-11pm every weekend with potential of day time races during the week for the 7 months of April - October!
*This is a FOR PROFIT private company and yet the citizens suffer as our taxes pay for expanding roads and security to accommodate it, while our home values go down.
*The amount of people these races draw will result in an estimated 1000 - 3500+ cars and trailers on Perkinsville, a two lane road and HWY 89. This traffic will pass behind, next to, and in front of residential homes. There will be traffic from probably 3 or 4pm and again from probably 11pm-1am backing up our roads and into our neighborhoods to get around the round about on Perkinsville. The smog, dust, and not to mention tail gating with the potential for drinking and driving near the college and our kids at the community center, elementary school, equestrian lifestyle, wildlife and our homes is just too much.
*There will be 60ft high stadium lights that will take away from our views and starry nights.
*Between the traffic, noise, lights, and safety concerns this will MOST DEFINITELY have an impact on our small-town life and home property values.
*Last but not least, this is a potential safety hazard for people on horseback. Not every horse can handle the noise, traffic or possible backfire of a race car.
