The Heritage Group is planning on going further into pushing the quarry and heavy industrial facilities in this location.  They are using an old law that relates to rights of mining a property.  However, this land remains a valuable floodplain that is needed for the safety of our community.  Developments should not be allowed in floodplains.  Also, this location is surrounded by neighborhoods, hospitals, schools and more.  
You can help by writing and/or calling your representatives on this matter.  Our representatives need to understand the valuable aspects of this property.  Looking at this property in person and on a map, it is plainly obvious that this development should not be allowed to move forward.  Moreover, this property should be placed in a protective state to preserve the floodplain, wetlands, and major wildlife corridor.  This would be an extension of Eagle Marsh and Fox Island, with the greater potential to stretch the preservation all the way to the Forks of the Wabash.
