Hello,

We have gained great momentum in the effort to get No Quarry in this area.  We need this community to come together and continue the effort to finish strong and get this job done.

TWO very important meetings are coming up:

May 19, at 7pm, come on out to Lafayette Meadows Elementary school for updates and to prepare for the May 26 meeting at the Coliseum.

May 26, at 5:30pm, at the Coliseum is the hearing for whether this quarry and heavy industrial development will be allowed by our county planners.  NOW is the time when we need everyone (and their friends and family) to SHOW UP!  Let's fill the coliseum and show our county that we CARE about this area, and that we do NOT want a quarry and heavy industrial anywhere near our community.  We have been informed of a few things regarding this meeting:

Parking will be free.

If you wish to speak, there will not be a sign up prior to the meeting for speakers; but they will announce when people who are in opposition to the quarry and development can start lining up to be heard.  As we line up, there will be a place that we sign up; and then our turn will come.  They have assured me that they will allow everyone who wants to speak time to do so.  I believe everyone receives 2 minutes.

There will be 2 separate meetings back to back.  First, the BZA will be listening to and deciding upon the special use variance as to whether a quarry is allowed here.  The second meeting immediately following will be the Allen County Plan Commission deciding upon whether the Industrial-3 (heavy industrial for the asphalt and concrete plants) and the Commercial/shopping center (near IU Health) is allowable.  Both are equally important.  We want our voices heard at both meetings.

There is no pressure to speak publicly if you do not wish to do so.  But, it is highly important that we all show up and support this cause.  We need to fill the Coliseum, and we can do it if everyone shows up and brings friends and family.

Our petition numbers are high, and we have many paper petition signatures, as well.  Let's continue to keep these numbers climbing!  If you have a paper petition that you have been collecting signatures on, please deliver them to the May 19 meeting at Lafayette Meadows Elementary.   After May 19, we can continue to collect signatures and deliver them by hand to the May 26 hearing.  Spread the word and let's make this petition climb even higher!

Remember to write or email the Allen County Board of Zoning Appeals, Allen County Plan Commission, and the Allen County Commissioners.  Our voices must be heard.  Share these addresses with friends and family, too.

THANK YOU for all that you can do to stop this quarry from moving forward.

Let's work together and get this development proposal out of here.

Our community is strong and is being heard!
