MEDIA RELEASE 3.
Beyond Australia Statement
6 April 2026

There appears to be a coordinated media narrative over the last two days designed to manufacture concern and inflate the perception of risk. This is centred around Meghan Markle’s upcoming visit for the Her Best Life Retreat between 16–19 April at the InterContinental Hotel Coogee Beach, a privately paid commercial event.

Some media reports are now suggesting that the act of taking a photo constitutes a security risk. This is misleading and exaggerated.

A so called “online troll” is being framed as a serious security concern after claiming access to a public, ticketed event. This is also misleading. Meghan’s Mole is based in the United States and is not attending the event. The account has an established online presence and has previously been approached with a six figure offer to sell its social media platforms, allegedly by Sussex representatives, which was declined.

So why elevate this into a security issue? Because it creates a narrative that suggests risk, vulnerability, and the need for heightened security.

This raises serious questions as to whether this is being used to deliberately build a case for permanent, publicly funded security through their ongoing dispute with RAVEC, while also applying pressure for similar taxpayer funded arrangements in Australia.

Turning a public event attendee into a “security threat” serves one purpose, to justify expanded protection and funding.

Australians should not be used as leverage in a broader campaign to secure permanent security status or to justify taxpayer funded protection during their visit to Australia.

This is exactly why our petition matters more than ever. Australians will not be guilted, manipulated, or pressured into accepting inflated security narratives for a private visit. We will not be played by media spin or emotional blackmail. Sign the petition and make it clear that Australian taxpayers will not fund this visit.
