MEDIA RELEASE
Beyond Australia Statement
27 March 2026

Australia is under real cost of living pressure. Petrol prices are rising, mortgages are increasing, and everyday Australians are struggling. In this climate, the use of taxpayer funded resources for a private visit is a valid and serious concern.

The public petition No Taxpayer-Funding or Official Support for Harry & Meghan’s Private Visit to Australia! on Change.org has been deliberately misrepresented by others, and especially by the Sussex representatives.

Its focus is clear. It questions taxpayer funded support for a private visit and has gained significant public backing, along with international media attention.

In a recent Daily Mail article dated 26 March 2026, a spokesperson for the Sussex representatives attempted to dismiss the petition by suggesting that those who have not signed it must support taxpayer funding. This is not only misleading, it is a deliberate attempt to undermine legitimate public concern. Silence does not equal consent.

This is a straightforward issue of public accountability, not misinformation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are free to visit Australia. That has never been the issue.

Dismissing this petition and attempting to discredit Australians for expressing their views is not debate. It reflects a disregard for public accountability and the right to question how taxpayer resources are used.

Australians have every right to question how public resources are used. That is not hate. That is accountability.
