New reporting ahead of the planned visit by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is only reinforcing what Australians are already questioning.

We are being told this is a privately funded visit, yet the reality looks very different.

Police escorts, road closures, crowd control and large-scale security coordination do not come out of their pockets. They fall on Australian resources.

That means taxpayers.

As highlighted in recent reporting, even when personal security is paid for, the broader security operation is absorbed by the host country.

• Jacinta Allan - Premiere of Victoria

seeking clear assurance that no Australian taxpayer money will be spent on any part of this visit.

No response has been received.

Nearly 37,000 Australians have now signed this petition and still there is no clarity.

This is no longer just about a visit. It is about accountability.

• Australians were not consulted.
• Australians have not been informed.
• Australians may still be expected to pay.

So, the question remains simple.

Will Australian taxpayers fund any part of this visit?

• If the answer is no, say it.
• If the answer is yes, explain why.
