Over the last month, our community members have created a beautiful piece of art that illustrates the impact that the Santa Susana Field Lab (SSFL), one of California's most toxic sites, has had on our community.
Each handprint represents a Santa Susana story – people with cancer and other health diagnoses stemming from the SSFL, their support systems, and community who believe enough is enough. Our community deserves better and we deserve to live a life free of the toxic and deadly pollution that the SSFL continues to spread.
- Yellow Hand: Someone who has/had cancer believed to have been caused by the Santa Susana Field Lab.
- Light Yellow Hand: A family member of someone who has/had cancer believed to have been caused by the Santa Susana Field Lab.
- Red Hand: In memory of someone who died from cancer or disease believed to have been caused by the Santa Susana Field Lab.
- Light Red Hand: A family member of someone who died from cancer or disease believed to have been caused by the Santa Susana Field Lab.
- Blue Hand: A community supporter of the complete cleanup of the Santa Susana Field Lab.
With each passing day, more handprints are added to this installation. How many handprints will finally be too many for the County of Los Angeles, Ventura County, the City of Los Angeles and the City of Simi Valley? How many until they take action and protect us?
