The SSFL Work Group has met for 30 years to educate and update the community about the Santa Susana Field Lab, one of America’s worst nuclear accidents. The cleanup of the site has entered a crisis mode as the owners of the site (Boeing, NASA and the Department of Energy) have recently declared they will leave up to 100% of the carcinogenic chemical and radioactive waste on the site permanently.
At our upcoming meeting California EPA Secretary Jared Blumenfeld will address the problem and discuss the solution to go forward for a safe and legal cleanup of the site. There will be ample time for public Q&A with an expert panel, including the nuclear watchdog Committee to Bridge the Gap’s Dan Hirsch and Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks. Please join us!
