Petition updateNo more kids with cancer: clean up the Santa Susana Field LabWoolsey Fire Woes: The Musical

There are a few things I’ve learned over the last few years that I’ve been part of the fight to clean up the Santa Susana Field Lab, one of America’s worst nuclear disasters.

Boeing, NASA and the Department of Energy aren’t going to do the right thing unless they’re forced to. They value profits more than they value people. So if we’re going to get the cleanup we so desperately need, people need to understand exactly how dangerous the lab is, and how corrupt these companies and agencies are.

The Santa Susana Field Lab problem is so emotionally crippling that some people can’t absorb the information they need. You can imagine how hard it would be if you found out your home is only miles from a major nuclear wasteland. Then add to that stress when you find out you can’t move away (and there are more legitimate reasons than you’d imagine) and that instead you’ll be potentially exposing your children to carcinogenic and toxic waste every time you let them play outside. And then you learn your government doesn’t care and they’ve been knowingly allowing this to happen for decades.

If you don’t feel stressed after reading that, you might not have a pulse.

That’s why I worked with a close friend to make this Lego stop motion video. We needed a lighter medium to inform the public about a dead-serious problem. I hope that you’re able to see the irony and the comedy and the problem, and instead of being paralyzed, and that you’ll keep the movement going.
