Neighbors, Nearly 8,000 people have signed our petition in just a few days, and more are signing every minute. Please keep sharing the petition on social media since doing so helps promote the message we are sending to our city and county leaders! Not everyone is getting the message though: This Tuesday, August 29th, Anaheim Councilman Jose F. Moreno will seek permission to have porta-potties installed in the Santa Ana River Trail encampment. Good intentions aside, this will increase the permanency of the situation that we are working so hard to undo. I am asking you to join me in going to the August 29th Anaheim City Council meeting to oppose Moreno’s proposal. The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. You can make a statement during “public comments” at the beginning of the meeting, or instead just sit in the audience. Additionally, you can also send an e-mail the City Council at: council@anaheim.net I realize that we all have jobs, families to take care of, and day to responsibilities that must get handled. The homeless “advocates” will be at the council meeting to support Moreno’s porta-potty proposal. So we need to also be there so that the City Council hears from us...the actual residents who are being impacted, and do not want this situation to continue! For many of us, signing this petition was a first step taken in clearly communicating what we’d like to see happen with the current homeless/Santa Ana Riverbed situation. Now it’s time to take the next step by showing our elected officials that we are ready to hold them accountable if they continue taking us down this road of endless rhetoric, enablement, and action contrary to what we are demanding as constituents.
