Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers (MYCAT)

Jul 19, 2016
The man caught carrying this dead tiger on his motorbike near Gopeng, Perak, by PERHILITAN pleaded not guilty in court yesterday, and left after raising the bail amount of RM70,000.
Just like that.
MYCAT demands justice for this tiger, and that there will be #NoMoreDeadTigers.
He was charged under Section 68(2)(c) of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, which says: “…on conviction, be punished with a fine of not less than one hundred thousand ringgit and not more than five hundred thousand ringgit and with imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.”
This means that he could be fined RM500,000 and be jailed for 5 years.
We call for maximum sentences to be handed out to criminals convicted of killing or trading in tigers and other endangered species.
