Tomorrow 3/17/2020, Portland City Council is expected to deliver an announcement that there will be an eviction moratorium due to CORVID-19. Truly they cannot evict us all, but they also should not have the right to charge rent and then turn around and evict the whole city the second they lift the moratorium. Most of us cannot afford to make rent on the regular, much less carry the burden of back debt for months at a time. 

We the undersigned are letting Wheeler and the powers that be know: there are no jobs, no wages, to pay rent. You cannot exploit a united people. Should Wheeler ignore our demand, he and his private landlords will find workers willing to escalate up to and including a General Strike and Rent Strike. Our workers who fall ill will be left on your doorsteps and you will not escape a plague that grips your people. 

We are asking people to alert Ted Wheeler than 17K+ people are ready to take action should our pleas go ignored. Organizations that have signed on to our demand include Migrante Portland, PCHRP, and ILPS Portland, and the movement to freeze rent in San Diego, California.
