Thank you so much for signing the petition to ask the Winnetka Council NOT to sign the IMEA contract extension. Altogether I collected 167 signatures in one week. As you know, the Village Council ignored our pleas and signed the contract anyway. I am still fighting to cancel the contract, but in the meantime, the Winnetka Caucus is recommending 3 incumbents to continue in the Council – the same incumbents who voted for the IMEA contract extension!
I have discovered that Ryan Harrison, the 4th candidate, believes that human use of fossil fuels contributes significantly to climate change, and that we need to transition away from coal as quickly as possible without shocking the system. He also stated that he absolutely supports renewable, cleaner sources of energy.
Since the Winnetka Caucus is recommending 3 incumbents, consider only voting for Harrison so that he will have a better chance to win and represent those of us that want the Village to move quickly to renewable energy.
Winnetka Caucus Town Hall voting happens this Wednesday, Oct. 8, 8-9:30 pm at the Skokie School Auditorium, 520 Glendale. People are asked to come at 7:30 pm to check in with their ID or utility bill. Please show up to vote for Ryan Harrison and help Winnetka get away from dirty coal.
Also, if you are interested in serving as a Council member, please let me know. We want to unseat the 3 incumbents with a slate of 3 environment-friendly candidates. That means we all need to go and only vote for Harrison on Wednesday, and find 2 other candidates by December.
Thanks for caring,
Your neighbor, Ivy
