Hi Everyone,
Less than two months ago, I was so impressed that 13 of us showed up to speak out against a data center during a City Council public comment period. So I truly have no words to express the awe and gratitude I feel for the 5,889 people who have taken the time to sign this petition. Nor can I quite find the words to articulate how I feel about our councilmembers still not acknowledging their constituents.
Well, that’s not entirely accurate; I always have words. 😁
At any rate, time for action.
ACTION: COME TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING TODAY
TODAY, May 20, the Planning Commission will consider the Townsite Solar 2 data center proposal, a major step in determining whether this project moves forward. If you signed this petition because you care about protecting Boulder City’s character, resources, and future, this is where you can turn your signature into action.
4PM: PROTEST / RALLY BEFORE THE MEETING
Outside City Hall - Corner of California and Arizona
- Bring a sign! Too short of notice? That’s okay; I’ll bring extras.
5PM: PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
City Hall - 401 California
- You cannot bring signs into City Hall (per someone who felt overly authoritarian some particular day) so please leave them in your cars, or if you walked, leave them in my car or someone’s.
- I’ll pass out “colorful & expressive ledger-sized paper for note-taking purposes” prior to heading in. 😉
- SPEAK. Yes, you! There are THREE separate public comment opportunities, and you may speak during one, two, or all three. Each allows up to 3 minutes per speaker:
1. Initial Public Comment (begins around 5:01 PM)
Speak generally about concerns including electrical demand, water usage*, potential health impacts, noise, air quality, light pollution, the urban heat island effect, fiscal responsibility, transparency, quality of life, and the precedent these types of projects set.
*this particular project does not appear to rely heavily on potable water, but the agenda materials contain conflicting and potentially misleading claims regarding effluent (treated wastewater), which is absolutely fair game for public comment.
2. Public Hearing for Agenda Item #3
Speak directly to the item under consideration which is item 3 from the agenda packet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AySInwjk5ciwLIm-fWj79Hsr96Bp3uVk/view?usp=drive_link
3. Final Public Comment (end of meeting)
A decision will likely have been made by then. Don’t let that stop you... Public record matters.
- Don’t assume others will show up.
- Don’t assume your voice won’t matter.
- Don’t assume this is already decided.

Come meet Boulder City Council candidate Adam Schultheis, grab lunch, connect with neighbors, and learn about what is and what may be on our November 2026 ballots.
🗳️We’ll also be circulating THREE citizen initiative ballot questions for signatures in hopes of qualifying them for the November 2026 ballot, plus explaining the two questions already headed to voters.
- Preview the three citizen initiative ballot questions here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WIGWskC7Lr1k9y7dZFCo6cIYJq9eugzB?usp=sharing
- Want to sign sooner? Email BCVotersVoice@gmail.com and we’ll arrange for a signature collector to meet with you. (Only registered Boulder City voters can sign.)
- Want to help collect signatures? Email us. We only need approximately 1,700 signatures per question to make the ballot, no big deal. 😉
